About Dan

I would love to have your support to continue serving on Katy City Council – Ward A. I have been married to my beautiful wife, Kathy, since 2007 and we were blessed with our amazing son, Bennett, in 2012. We have lived in the Cane Island development of Katy since 2015, and love Katy! We attend Katy Community Fellowship Church. While I am anything but your traditional politician, I have truly enjoyed serving Katy for the last 3 years.

In addition to being elected to City Council in 2021, my professional experience is over 20 years with a Fortune 100 retail company, with over a decade as a multi-unit manager responsible for hundreds of employees and P&L’s in the tens of millions of dollars. Retail is about customer service, and that is how I view the City Council position. As residents we pay taxes to the City, and in return we should expect to receive professional service by people committed to constantly improving the experience living in Katy.

Working in a complex organization, I have learned that no one person can do it all. Partnership is the key to any real change, and I have worked with my fellow council members, mayor, and city staff on your behalf. Together, we have made many improvements including passing the lowest the tax rate in Katy history, increased funding for First Responders to keep Katy safe as it grows, numerous drainage and road improvements, increased parks and green spaces with the addition of Leyendecker Landing and the 3B Learning Center, completion of a new Comprehensive Plan, Master Parks Plan, and much more.

There are many issues facing our city that continue to need attention and a voice. I am proud to represent you on City Council, and will continue to prioritize Public Safety, Fiscal Responsibility, Drainage, Parks, and more.

City government is in the business of providing good service to you. You are my focus.

Thank you for this opportunity,

Dan Smith
